And in a totally unrelated note, as in, could not be more unrelated, I bought a pooper scooper yesterday off Amazon. Normally my poop scooping related purchases stay pretty hush hush around these parts -- per General's request, he is really shy about his poops even though I always reassure him that everybody poops, not just him -- but this is not your ordinary pooper scooper. The reviews on this particular model were excellent. I couldn't believe how many people were so overwhelmed by a poop shoveling device, that the decided to leave lengthy reviews.

I decided to read one, and it was the best decision I made all day long. But don't take my word for it, here, just read it....

Someone get this guy a career in writing pooper scooper reviews. Although, I think that just translates to-- Someone get this guy a blog!

Be The Adventurous Type // iPhone + Desktop Background Freebie //

I stumbled on this quote earlier and it really resonated with me. You can go through life being pessimistic, or you can go through life saying, "Heck, sure I'll try that, why not!" I sure had a really rough time for the first year and a half after moving from Knoxville to Dallas. I looked at going out solo and being social in a city where I knew no one, as an ordeal rather than an adventure. Once I was brave and finally put the adventure mindset in place, life changed.

In Sex and the City, Charlotte tells Carrie she is terrified of being so happy, because no one gets everything they want. Maybe this quote is actually the key to getting everything you want. When you turn things into an adventure, you suddenly realize the things you want start to appear in places you never expected or even knew about.

Be brave, have an adventure, not an ordeal.

Because America

Download Desktop Background HERE
Download iPhone Background HERE
Download Facebook Cover Photo HERE

So I know we are all still mourning that loss yesterday afternoon, but July 4th will still go on as regularly scheduled. I think this iPhone and Desktop background may be my favorite yet, so much so that I made it my Facebook cover photo, and included that for you to download as well. I hope you guys like it as much as I do!

Before I bring you a guest post from one of the most patriotic (and hello, coolest) girls I'm happy to call my friend in blogland, I thought I would share a funny little thing that happened to me last night...

How does this even happen? I'm not entirely sure where I went wrong here. And to preemptively answer your question, yes, I used dishwashing detergent, not dish soap. The same dishwashing detergent I've been using for the past two months. #argh. Thank heavens I'm moving next week. I'm just going to grab those dishes and act like I had no idea anything was wrong with the dishwasher. Good plan? YUP!

Oh and, Tim Howard. Damn.

Now I would introduce Steph, from Not Entirely Perfect, but you already know her from this post she wrote that was practically Pinterest famous overnight. I've been following Steph's blog for like, ever. She's hilarious, clever and what I like most, genuine. And did I mention she's a girl after my own heart, I mean, she's showing us how to make alcoholic cupcakes...

-----

I love the 4th of July.  Love it.  I also love baking cupcakes full of booze for holidays.  So if you've ever been around my blog, you may have seen these.  It was one of my first posts ever, although now I've had time to perfect it.  Cotton candy vodka cupcakes.  They are glorious, and easier to make than you'd think.

Ingredients you will need:
- 1 box white cake mix + ingredients to make the cake, like eggs.  Alternatively, just mix cake mix with 12 ounces of pop like 7-up and it'll bake right up, no additional ingredients needed.  You're welcome.
- 8 ounces white chocolate, if you want to make the filling, but it's of course optional in a pinch.  It just adds more booze.  So wait, I take that back.  Not optional.
- 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2+ cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, at room temperature
- Blue food coloring
- 1 jar of cherries
- Sprinkles.  Possibly mixed with pop rocks, because that would be perfect for the 4th.

and of course, the booze.  Whiskey for the cherries and cotton candy vodka for the frosting and filling. Oh yes, you heard me, cotton candy.  Pinnacle makes cotton candy flavored vodka.  It was even on sale for $10 a bottle at my local Binny's.  It's delicious.

First things first - take your jar of cherries, dump the liquid, fill with Jack Daniels honey whiskey.  Put the lid back on and stick it in the fridge until the 4th so the cherries soak up all the booze.

Alright, when you're ready to make the cupcakes, either on the 4th or the night before:
(1) Bake cupcakes according to package directions.  Let them cool completely.  Then, use a scoop to take the centers of the cupcakes out.  A spoon works just fine.  Not all the way to the bottom, we're just filling little holes.  A center surprise, if you will.
(2) Chop the chocolate and place it in a bowl.  Boil the cream on the stove and pour it over the chocolate and stir until all the chocolate melts.  Add 2 tablespoons of cotton candy vodka.  Give it some time to cool and thicken so it won't just leak out of the cupcakes.
(3) Spoon it into the cupcakes.
(4) In a separate bowl, beat the butter until it's smooth and fluffy.  Slowly add in 1 to 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1/3 cup of the cotton candy vodka.  Mix in the blue coloring.  Adjust to your liking - more powdered sugar equals thicker frosting, more vodka will thin it out.
(5) Frost away!  And then top with your sprinkles and the cherries you soaked in Jack (or your liquor of choice.)

Obviously I haven't made this year's cupcakes yet, but I'll take some better photos when I do!

Happy Birthday America!

Freebie + A Princess

I'm keeping it short and sweet today because I've got someone I want you to meet! Hah, poet.

I wanted to direct you over to Heather's blog Glitter and Gloss where I made a "March to Your Own Beat" wallpaper freebie for her readers! You can download for iPhone and Desktop HERE

OH, and I tweeted this the other day...
And because a bunch of you had questions, I thought I would direct you to this old Saturday Sessions post (see tip #3!) which I think will help answer those questions, but by all means, feel free to leave a comment and I will of course help anyway I can!

-----

So today I have with us the newest newlywed of blog land, Dayna! This girl looked nothing short of stunning on her wedding day--- uh, hello, see that picture below?! But she isn't just a beauty, girlfriend has the brains too! Dayna is one of those bloggers that has an unbelievable talent for writing. From the beginning to the end of each post, her writing will suck you in, entertain and make you want to keep reading page after page of old posts. Today I've got her answering some questions  for us in a blog land Q&A!

Salutations, People of Sarah Fandom,

I'm Dayna, and I run the blog known as Princess Burlap. You may remember me from Sarah's sidebar; I'm that little black button, typeface proclaiming that my husband is autistic. Say what? Yep, it's true. That means different things to different people, and for us, it makes for some good comedy, a lot of trial and error, but above all, a great love story.

We just got married a few weeks ago and it was a living fairytale. No really. As in, we had it in the woods and I dragged my dress through the mud and there was a spider on the sweetheart table. I understand Miss Sarah had some queries for me. They can be found below, in no particular order.

Q: Is Toast the best dog ever? Is he a better writer than you?

A: Toast has more fans than I do, no doubt about it. He gets tweets proclaiming undying devotion every time he blogs, and I know there exists a giant group of my readership that only subscribes and follows in anticipation of the latest Toast Post. Once he wrote about bottling Toast's Own ankle water and the crowd went wild. I don't even know how he first obtained the login information for my Wordpress account. While I at first tried to keep him off of my Macbook, he seemed to prevail and if I'm being perfectly honest, I've never seen him devote that kind of enthusiasm to anything. Well, except maybe Greenies. And butt scooting on carpets. He denies it all day long, but I catch him reading your comments for him over and over. I love the little guy, he's my first baby. If blogging brings a streak of joy to his stressful existence, then I'm all for it.

Q: What were you most looking forward to on your wedding day?

A: Honestly, I was most looking forward to hearing his vows (we surprised each other with vows we wrote ourselves) and I was not disappointed. I'll be posting those this week along with mine. Funnily, there was a moment even more special, a twinkling beauty upon a sea of moments, that I could never have anticipated and will never forget. Before finance, in another life, my husband had a recording contract with Sony Music / RCA Records. A motorcycle wreck killed his career and almost killed him, and so he found a more desk-friendly ambition. Until our wedding day, I'd never heard him sing. He swore he couldn't anymore. The band called us to stand under the globe lights and twinkles as our song began to play, and there, wrapped in the soft arms of our friends, our family and our love, he sang to me, and I lost my feet under the tulle. We were dancing upon cumulus clouds, the world fading away. It was the most romantic moment of my life.

Q: Which form of social media do you overuse? (Can we follow you on it, please?!)
A: I tend to go crazy with the Cheese Whiz when it comes to Instagram. That will only intensify as I get my photography business off the ground. There is a vivid, uncluttered magic in a photo.

Q: What has blogging taught you?

A: Blogging has taught me... confidence. Blogging has taught me that I have something to offer, something real. Blogging has taught me to be not afraid, because if you work hard, and you love something, it's painted all over your face and your blog and your work. The support of this beautiful community I'm building around me has brought about the elevation of dreams that before were destined to die as dreams too often do. Dreams of writing. Dreams of owning a photography business. Dreams of working for myself. Gifts of that nature can't possibly be valuated or repaid, but I am and will be forever grateful.

Blogging has changed my life.

Q: Direct us to a favorite post or two that you've written.
A: It's so hard to choose. I tend to write about ghosts a fair amount. In both a capacity of fear and of those long passed. I love those posts. Both the fun of writing them and the conversations they spark. Another favorite subject is the quirks and nuances of being in a relationship with a man who is on the Autism Spectrum. Oh. And that time we got busted with our pants down by a possible drug cartel leader in Costa Rica. Here are a few standouts:

USA USA USA!

I'm finally back from Miami! I picked up the puppies and snugged hard with them last night. It felt so good. I'll do a trip recap, which is mostly food related seeing as it was a work trip, next week. Today though, I'm back in the office and will be spending the majority of the day catching up on emails! I wanted to pop in with a friendly reminder that the United States plays Canada in the Semi Finals for men's hockey today at noon est. It will be a revenge rematch for America, after losing to Canada for the gold medal in overtime in the the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Although I admittedly know very little about hockey, I'm going to be watching online doing my very best to learn quickly and cheer for my country.

Now I of course know that not everyone that reads this blog is from America, but during the olympics, you gotta show your pride for your home country! Normally, I'm pretty neutral on the blog, but today I gotta rep that USA! USA! USA!

Oh, and yesterday I found out that I made the top 3 nominated over at My So-Called Chaos in the authentic artist category, the favorite all time category and most beautiful blog category. There is some pretty steep competition, seeing as I adore every other blog in each of my categories, but if you go vote for me, you can count on a birthday party invitation in your mailbox come December 17th.

Will You Be My Valentine _____?

**Note** Remember that with the iPhone5, your wallpaper will get distorted if you don't have "reduce motion" turned on. To turn "reduce motion" on:  Settings ---> General ---> Accessibility ---> Scroll down and click "Reduce Motion"---> turn that ON

But, I love you. Will you be my Valentine _____?

1. Will You Be My Valentine WiFi?
So we can go everywhere together? Why are you so hard to find when I most need you? You play so many games with me. I mean, sometimes you'll say you are available, but then I am never able to connect with you. Why would you tell me you are available when you are clearly closed for business? Sometimes, you open yourself up to me, but then we move so slow together. Can't we just move a bit faster? Unlock yourself WiFi, give me the passcode key to your heart, WiFi. Please be my Valentine.

2. Will You Be My Valentine Ticket Oak from StubHub?
You have tickets growing on you, think of all the things we could do together if you were my Valentine. We could go see Dirk and the Mavs every single home game. We could have beers and sit on the 50 yard line at the Cowboys games, heck we could even go see Miley when she comes to the Big D! Please ticket oak, be my Valentine?

3. Will You Be My Valentine Gay man at Starbucks that calls me beautiful
The other day you said, "Oh girl, I love all your floss" and you were referring to my bangles and bracelets, and for that, my heart totally melted. Then on a day when I felt like I looked terrible, what did you say? You said, "You look beautiful today." And I died (add that to your list Helene) and felt I could take on my day. Can I please just put you in my pocket and carry you around all day every day and have you feed me compliments which are probably just lies to be kind and get me to come through your drive-thru again? Will you be my valentine gay man at Starbucks that calls me beautiful?

4.Will You Be My Valentine Sushi?
I want you every single day. I want you at lunch. I want you at dinner. Heck, I would devour you for breakfast if the mood was right. But you cost so much more than I'm able to give. You are wonderful, and I'm always wanting you, will you be my Valentine, Sushi?

5. Will You Be My Valentine Straight Across Bangs?
God I love you when we aren't fighting. When you lay flat on my head, calm and collected, we just are such a great team. But it is when you show your dark side, your wild side, your rebellious side that doesn't want to do a single thing I ask you to do, that is when we have problems. We fight. I try and iron things out between us, but you just keep on fighting with me. Won't you just sit down, calm down, relax and be my Valentine straight across bangs?

So, who do you want to ask to be your Valentine?
