The Girls' Guide to the 2017 NFL Draft

Official guest NFL Draft 2017 analyst for the Cowboys 😂
These pictures make me laugh.

Although the NFL draft is no Super Bowl and it certainly isn't as exciting as the first game of the season when your hopes are high and your dreams haven't been crushed yet (oh hey, Tennessee, how ya doin?!), it is still pretty special.

As a Tennessee fan, it is hands down the most excited I've been for the draft in many years. Several of my boys are up for grabs and could go round one. I've had some cash burning a hole in my pocket to the NFL Shop for quite some time, but I've been waiting to see if the Cowboys take one of my players.

I'll lose it. Those of you reading out in Cali will hear my squeals all the way from Texas.

As much as it pains me, the vast majority of you guys reading do not specifically care about former Tennessee players, so I'll spare you all of those details.

I will though, bring you, the 5 Things You Need to Know Before you watch the NFL DRAFT.

The First Thing You Need to Know
--- theDETAILS ---

Location: Philadelphia
(Does anyone else sound out Philadelphia like the kid from Big Daddy - Philly-del-phia - just me?)
Time: 8pm EST
Network: ESPN and NFL Network.
Stream Online: HERE

Another really cool thing is that they've built a TEMPORARY theatre by the Art Museum (aka Rocky's) steps. Take a look at it here, it is insane.

The Second Thing You Need to Know
--- theDRUGS ---

You're going to be hearing a lot about the drug tests from some of the biggest names in the draft. Reuben Foster from Alabama and Jabrill Peppers from Michigan both tested positive for diluted urine sample.

I PERSONALLY want to note that this does not mean that they straight up tested positive. It means that the urine was diluted and they were unable to get a reading. To the NFL, a diluted sample equals positive.

I had to drug test for my current job before I started. I was obviously clean, but at the time I was tested I had a UTI. If you've ever had a UTI, you know that you CHUG water like you've been living in the Serengeti for a decade. Well, my sample was diluted and I had to test again. I was mortified when my boss told me it came back diluted and I needed to test again, but I also had a doctors note, an antibiotic and instructions to hydrate.

Do I think that either of them had a UTI. LOLS, no. But just thought I'd clear the "diluted positive test" up for ya. There's a good chance both of them will drop way down in the draft because of this.

The Third Thing You Need to Know
--- theDOMESTICVIOLENCE ---

No one learns. Why does no one learn?

Joe Mixon from Oklahoma will be a total wild card. The majority of teams have removed him from their draft board due to a domestic violence altercation that was all on video in 2014. The video is on the internet if you want to find it, I won't be including it here. Mixon punched a girl so hard that it knocked her off her feet, and she fell and hit her head on a table. She was in surgery for 8 hours having 4 fractures repaired in her face.

I really don't want to get into all of the details, but there is more than just Mixon on the draft board tonight that has been accused of domestic violence or rape.

The Fourth Thing You Need to Know
--- theBEST ---

It is almost certain that the Cleveland Browns will take Myles Garret a defensive end from Texas A&M. After that, although everyone has an opinion, no one has any real clue what is going down.

Need a refresher on what a defensive end does on the field?
Check out this post: What Is Your Favorite Defender's Role on the Football Field.

The Fifth Thing You Need to Know
---followTWITTER ---

This is bad, but I just don't check twitter very often anymore. Certainly not as much as I used to. When it comes to the NFL Draft though, Twitter is king.

Here are some accounts I recommend you follow for hilarious, up to the minute tweets on the 2017 NFL Draft...

I'll be multi tasking tonight (headed to New Orleans tomorrow, whoop!) but I'll most certainly be on twitter as much as I can be throughout the draft! Every year, we've done an NFL Draft twitter party, and this year is no different!

Let's link up our tweets during the draft.
Use hashtag: #GirlsGoneDraft

IT'S PLAYOFF TIME IN TEXAS! My Dallas Cowboys are the number one seed in the NFC and to be quite honest, that terrifies me. I don't know what this says about me as a fan, but every week I sit there with my mouth gaping open as Dak and Zeke so casually move the ball down the field and say, "Wait, are the Cowboys good at football?????" Week after week, it freaks me out.

Speaking of playoffs, I have some very important Fantasy Football housekeeping information to attend to. Drumroll please....

A Cute Fall Gameday Look

Holy nap time needed, y'all. Those of you on the East Coast - God Bless YOU! What time did you make it to bed last night? 1am? Later? Was I secretly hoping they'd roll out the tarp and the game would finish at a reasonable hour the following evening --- NOOOO! Maybe. Ok, I was. My bedtime is 10pm, sometimes 10:30pm if I'm feeling really young and crazy.

Oh well, small price to pay for what I would consider to be the best baseball game I've ever seen, and I didn't even have a dog in the fight.

So, congrats to you Cubs fans, you really managed to put things into perspective for me. Here I am, crying out WOE IS ME all over Knoxville, all over Dallas, because Tennessee Football is in an 18 year drought. If WHEN Tennessee (obviously not this year) wins the National Championship, I'll lose my absolute mind. My mind will literally be lost, and we are only going on 18 years. Shoot, I totally lost it when Tennessee beat Florida to end an 11 year streak. I cannot fathom how high I would be riding today if my team ended a 108 year curse.

So, again, CHEERS to you, Cubbies! Enjoy it.

Speaking of Tennessee though, I've been searching high and low this season to find you guys new small businesses, boutiques and shops to buy your gameday gear from. I hope you'll love today's collaboration as much as I do. Meet Gameday Couture and Shop Flying Fox

If you are a Shark Tank watcher like I am, you might recognize Gameday Couture when they formed a partnership with my boy, Mark Cuban on the show in 2014. They produce the cutest, fashionable, gameday gear for everything from your favorite NCAA team to NBA team. This Tennessee Power T Quilted Puffer Vest (also available in other schools too) is so unique and guaranteed to get all of the gameday compliments.

Use code: VENUSTRAPPEDINMARS for 15% off your order at Gameday Couture

Shop Flying Fox is a NOLA based shop created by Tiffany Napper. Once the (*ahem* stupid, IMO) clear bag rule came around a few years ago, Shop Flying Fox was founded in an effort to make the perfect clear, stadium approved bag. See Also: The Devil Wears Ziplock

Shop Flying Fox's stadium approved bag is the cutest. I've worn it to the Vols at Texas A&M game and the Bama vs. Vols game and got compliments the entire walk to the stadium. It is absolutely perfect for gameday, and won't make you feel like you're carrying around a freezer bag.

I hope you'll check out these two companies, I think you're going to dig them!

The Best Tailgate Playlist

The best tailgate playlist to get your tailgate poppin!

Growing up a baller (yup, just went there) the best pump up tunes were absolutely essential during pre-game warm ups. I was always the one in charge of making the team's warm up mix. Without fail, each warm up mix kicked off with Jock Jams - Let's Get Ready To Rumble followed by Eye of the Tiger.

After that, it was a careful curation on my part. A little bit of the Love and Basketball soundtrack here, a dash of the Space Jam soundtrack there, topped off with a pinch of whatever I was able to hit the record button in time from the Top 8 at 8.

PAUSE-- who remembers making mixtapes by hitting record on your cassette tape right as the song would come on the radio?  If you are too much younger than me, you might be asking what a cassette tape even is. You really missed out on life, kid. You missed out. The struggle was real.

These days technology makes it much easier on us, and building a playlist is as easy as click click click. For this week's collaboration with NFL Fan Style, since I have these sweet Cowboys headphones from the NFL Shop to jam out with before kickoff, I thought I'd let you in on some songs that get me pumped up, and make my tailgate (or homegate) the place to be! This list is a great mix hitting nearly every genre, so everyone will be included.

The Ultimate #GamedayVibes Pump Up Playlist

I hope this list helps get your tailgate pumped up!

I'll be checking (ok - stalking) scores  on my phone all weekend because I'm headed to New Orleans for Voodoo Fest! EEEK! Follow along on the fun: Insta // Snap // Twitter // Facebook!

Cute Gameday Shirts for Women

I've always said I prefer tickets over flowers, but this shirt takes it to another level!

My friend, and fellow #VFL (short for Vol For Life - Without the Possibility of Parole) Meredith started this new line of gameday tees for ladies at the beginning of this season and I'm so pumped to introduce them to you today. There are tons of options, even if you're not a Vol fan. If you are a Vol fan though (hooray, go you, I like you) welcome to your new favorite Etsy shop.

I'm always so impressed by my friends who have an idea, and bring it to fruition. That is just what Meredith did with Gameday Darling. She's all over the Knoxville area and I'm hoping you guys will check out her stuff, it is really cute! She is also on Facebook and Instagram, be sure to tag @gamedaydarling on insta to be featured!

On another, but highly related note, Meredith is also a big Cubs fan......

Now, I realize that game one of the world series came and went and I didn't even touch on it on the blog. Perhaps I'm just bitter, because I feel like my Rangers got the major short end of the stick by being forced to play their first two games smack dab in the middle of the work day. Or maybe I'm bitter because they haven't refunded us for the four ALCS game one tickets we bought yet. Yeah, if we could get that 4-hundo back that be greeaaaaaaaaaat.

Or maybe I'm not bitter at all and I'm going all in on the CUBS. You see, I went to Wrigley once and fell in love so much that I changed OUT of an Atlanta Braves shirt and IN TO a Cubs shirt. Full post on that HERE. Go ahead and shake your head at me - if you're shaking your head, you've probably never been to Wrigley. It's magical. It's magical and cursed.

I thought I'd dig up a couple of graphics from the archives, just as a reminder for those who are not aware of the Cubs curse:

All of this can be explained by one of the most famous curses of all time...

The Curse of the Billygoat

The Cubs have now obviously won the NLCS (National League Championship) but will they break the curse for good and win their first World Series since 1908?

They'll have to put in some work. They are down 0-1 against Cleveland, who looked totally dominant last night. Game two is tonight with an early first pitch: 6:08pm CST on Fox!

The AT&T Stadium Secret You Need To Know Before Your Next Cowboys Game

So I imagine a few of you were coming here for me to explain myself and my snapchats (@iamsarahwebb they're still up, if you missed them) last night. Sadly though, you're going to have to wait until Monday for that event recap. A girl needs her time to edit photos and such, you know the drill! It'll be worth the wait, I promise.

Today I thought I'd let you in on my super secret, AT&T Stadium trick for maximizing your Cowboys game experience on the cheap. I first learned about this secret when I partnered with the Cowboys last year for their Female Fan Gameday Ritual promotion.

There is this place in AT&T stadium, ON FIELD LEVEL, called the Draft Kings Lounge. When I say field level, I mean you walk out and you see football player's butts in your face.

FIELD LEVEL, PEOPLE.
You have your very own bar with little to no wait, seating, and you are right there on the sideline, looking at the other team's bench. Close enough to yell whatever you so choose at Eli Manning or Kirk Cousins.

What do you think these field level passes cost?

$1,000?
$1,500?
$2,000+???

What if it told you it was just a $125 add-on to any ticket at AT&T stadium, including the standing room only tickets?!

A standing room only ticket will run you about $29. So you can be FIELD LEVEL for $154.

Why am I being so nice and telling you all of this? Well, I dunno the answer to that yet.
*Insert contemplation face emoji here*

There are also other "experiences" you can add on to your ticket, including:

 || Miller Lite Club Pass  ($150 extra) ||
Located on the Cowboys sideline at field level, rather than visitor sideline (hence why $25 more than DK Lounge)

BONUS - the Cowboys have to go THROUGH the Miller Lite Club in order to get to the locker room, so you'll see them up close and personal pre-game, halftime and post game.

 || High Five the Cowboys Before Warm Ups ($250 extra) ||
Meh. not as great of a deal, but it's an option for you if you have money to spend

 || Miller Lite Corral VIP Mezzanine - Pregame ($100 extra) ||
Includes light snacks, beer, soda and water for the 3 hours leading up to kickoff

 || Postgame Field Pass ($150 extra) ||
Run and hop and skip and jump on the field after the game... it's a lot of fun, I did it last year

You can also get VIP Sideline Pre-Game Passes ($500/person) and even enter an auction to win the opportunity for your group to hang out in Jerry Jones' Perch 30 minutes

"SO--- Sarah, you have all these great things for us, how the heck do we get them??!?!"

How to Purchase Cowboys Experiences

Step One: Download the AT&T Stadium App from the App Store
Step Two: Open app and select "Cowboys Experiences" at the bottom
Step Three: Create an account
Step Four: Click "Shop Now" located just under the headline "Make Every event more memorable with Cowboys Experiences"
Step Five: Starting the Wednesday before the game you want to attend, purchase your experiences directly on the app.

That's it. My super secret trick to maximizing your Cowboys experience on the cheap. Just don't forget, you need at least a Standing Room Only ticket in order to purchase an "Experience" -- cool, right?
