The AT&T Stadium Secret You Need To Know Before Your Next Cowboys Game

So I imagine a few of you were coming here for me to explain myself and my snapchats (@iamsarahwebb they're still up, if you missed them) last night. Sadly though, you're going to have to wait until Monday for that event recap. A girl needs her time to edit photos and such, you know the drill! It'll be worth the wait, I promise.

Today I thought I'd let you in on my super secret, AT&T Stadium trick for maximizing your Cowboys game experience on the cheap. I first learned about this secret when I partnered with the Cowboys last year for their Female Fan Gameday Ritual promotion.

There is this place in AT&T stadium, ON FIELD LEVEL, called the Draft Kings Lounge. When I say field level, I mean you walk out and you see football player's butts in your face.

FIELD LEVEL, PEOPLE.
You have your very own bar with little to no wait, seating, and you are right there on the sideline, looking at the other team's bench. Close enough to yell whatever you so choose at Eli Manning or Kirk Cousins.

What do you think these field level passes cost?

$1,000?
$1,500?
$2,000+???

What if it told you it was just a $125 add-on to any ticket at AT&T stadium, including the standing room only tickets?!

A standing room only ticket will run you about $29. So you can be FIELD LEVEL for $154.

Why am I being so nice and telling you all of this? Well, I dunno the answer to that yet.
*Insert contemplation face emoji here*

There are also other "experiences" you can add on to your ticket, including:

 || Miller Lite Club Pass  ($150 extra) ||
Located on the Cowboys sideline at field level, rather than visitor sideline (hence why $25 more than DK Lounge)

BONUS - the Cowboys have to go THROUGH the Miller Lite Club in order to get to the locker room, so you'll see them up close and personal pre-game, halftime and post game.

 || High Five the Cowboys Before Warm Ups ($250 extra) ||
Meh. not as great of a deal, but it's an option for you if you have money to spend

 || Miller Lite Corral VIP Mezzanine - Pregame ($100 extra) ||
Includes light snacks, beer, soda and water for the 3 hours leading up to kickoff

 || Postgame Field Pass ($150 extra) ||
Run and hop and skip and jump on the field after the game... it's a lot of fun, I did it last year

You can also get VIP Sideline Pre-Game Passes ($500/person) and even enter an auction to win the opportunity for your group to hang out in Jerry Jones' Perch 30 minutes

"SO--- Sarah, you have all these great things for us, how the heck do we get them??!?!"

How to Purchase Cowboys Experiences

Step One: Download the AT&T Stadium App from the App Store
Step Two: Open app and select "Cowboys Experiences" at the bottom
Step Three: Create an account
Step Four: Click "Shop Now" located just under the headline "Make Every event more memorable with Cowboys Experiences"
Step Five: Starting the Wednesday before the game you want to attend, purchase your experiences directly on the app.

That's it. My super secret trick to maximizing your Cowboys experience on the cheap. Just don't forget, you need at least a Standing Room Only ticket in order to purchase an "Experience" -- cool, right?

The Walk-Up Experience

Sometimes collaborations come through my inbox and I literally gasp, OMG! This happened a couple of weeks ago when I was en route to Key West. I got an email from Lowe's asking if I'd like to come to the Ranger's Ballpark and chat with Elvis Andrus (our star shortstop) about his at bat walk-up experience

DO I? Yes, yes I do want to do that.

So Elvis had his entire walk-up documented in virtual reality, so you could get a 360 degree view of what it is like to step up to the plate as Elvis Andrus.

"What would my walk-up song be?" Good question, thank you for taking the time to ask me that. I've never thought of what my walk-up song would be in the past 9 minutesHmm...

Well,  you generally get two songs, so first at bat would be Rocky Top (obvi) and then second at bat would be Wipe Me Down by Lil Boosie. I can rap every word to that song and, correct me if I'm wrong, but, I feel like that tidbit would really play out well on a resume.

Back to my bro, Elvis. I can refer to him as "bro" now, because we posed for a picture with each other while we were both really sweaty -- he was sweaty because he had been warming up for a game, I was sweaty because I'm a Texan transplant who spends Summer coated in a double thick layer of moisture at all times.

Can I tell you how excited I was to get to meet and chat with Elvis? CB got to come too, and we arrived at the ballpark around 2pm. Everyone else at the event was press, I was the giddy blogger in the Ranger hat with a stupid smile plastered on my face. I stuck out like a sore thumb, and security asked me like nine times if I was in the right place, "Ma'am this entrance is for press, stadium tours take place in the North Wing of the Ballpark."

CB and I watch the Rangers almost every night, partly because we can't agree on any other programming, partly because we are die hard fans of the current AL West leading team. In addition to Elvis, of course, I'm also the biggest Emily Jones fan ever. Emily is essentially the Rangers on air sideline reporter - for lack of a better baseball term. I asked CB, "Do you think Emily will be there??!?!" He shrugged his shoulders.

Then wouldn't you know who walks up?!?

Look at my face!! LOLZZZZ. I look as happy as Veenie on a boat. Nerd alert. I pretty much terrified Emily, running at her for a photograph, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

While we were waiting for Elvis to come out, we got to test out the Virtual Reality experience for ourselves. I'd never done any VR before, so it took me a second to realize I had to physcially turn my whole body, not just my head. Face palm.

It was really neat, you seriously got to see and hear every single 360 degree aspect of what it is like to walk to the plate as Elvis Andrus!

I of course didn't miss the "at bat pose" photo opp that was made available to fans. As you can clearly see, I excelled at JV softball, you're welcome.

Just like a league of their own, base-balling in skirt. You may call me Gina Davis (or perhaps Rosie O'Donell) from here on out.

Then Elvis joined us, and he even got to experience the VR of his own walk-up for the first time. He giggled a lot and it was really cute to watch!

I did the exact opposite of what the rest of the press was doing, and I took a selfie.
(I can't imagine why security thought I was there for the ballpark tour!?!?)

Then we had the chance to ask Elvis some questions.

I asked him:

"So Elvis, for the sequel, what do you think about doing a virtual reality walk off home run, followed by a gatorade bath where you get doused with gatorade by your teammates repeatedly?"

He laughed and said that was a fantastic idea!

He thought I was totally adorable and charming, then we posed for a picture and he realized how sweaty I was and the charm wore off.

There were a lot of cameras going off at once in all different directions, can you tell? Elvis was looking at CB's camera, you'd have thought I'd be too? Ah well.

We got to stay for the game that night, and although there was a lengthy rain delay we made it through the whole thing and earned an 8-5 victory, including a Mitch Moreland firework home run!

*CB insisted on receiving photo credit for this pic... so... photo credit CB.

Next time you head to a Rangers' game, be sure to check out the Lowe's Elvis Andrus 360 degree walk-up, located on the 3rd base side. Not in Dallas, check out his full video (sadly, sans VR) here

Thanks to Lowe's and the Rangers for such a treat!
Let's do it again sometime???!?!?!?!

The CB Charade

I posted a photo on my personal Facebook page yesterday, it was the same one that I posted on VTIM's Facebook page. It was a photo of me and CB at the horse races yesterday, where he had the program in front of his face, because, it's CB and he's crazy.

Just a quick backstory for those who don't know why I don't call him by his real name and why his photo isn't on this blog. He owns his own company and he wanted to keep his personal life just that, personal. He doesn't have social media, although I'm sure after nearly two years of being with me (2 year anniversary a week from today!!) he would fashion himself a social media expert. In the beginning, I don't think he knew what to expect from my blog. I guess he thought I posted every last detail about my life, and being a part of this blog would essentially  be his life in a tabloid format. He really didn't want any of his employees being able to access all of his weekend shenanigans all over the internet. I personally don't think I overshare, but I had no problem respecting that wish of his. I get it, not everyone is a blogger.

I would be mortified to write a post, bragging about a weekend I spent blackout drunk or partying out of control. In the beginning, I tried to explain to him that I was proud of my blog, and would even include it on a resume. It's an honest sliver of my life, one that I'm not ashamed to show my mom who reads every day. CB of course reads religiously, and now sees that being a part of this blog is not what he was initially thinking.

Want my honest opinion? Bless his heart, I think he actually wants to drop the whole CB charade, but  feels like it's gone so far now that everyone would be disappointed to learn he is just a normal dude.

Bless his heart again, but you all already know he is just a normal dude. But he is MY normal dude and I freaking love that kid more than anything in this world. That's all you guys care about, I know that for a fact.

Breaking news: I am not Blake Lively, and CB, although I think he is quite handsome, is not Ryan Reynolds. Whew, glad we got that out of the way. I've been so nervous to tell you that *face palm*

Man, that was an intense backstory........ SO I POSTED THAT PICTURE RIIIIIIIGHT?

Well this sweet guy who came to visit our friend Larissa last weekend jokingly commented on my photo and said something along the lines of.... "Where is ____ face???" He of course used his real name, because you know, why the hell would he have called him CB?

You should have seen the amount of panic on my face. I deleted the comment and then sat there panting while beads of sweat rolled down my face. Not really, but you get it.

Meanwhile, my mom who is in town right now, gave me a major eye roll and pleaded with me that it really isn't that big of a deal. She was right. If someone saw CB's name, does that REALLY matter at this point. It might even be a good thing, it might be the nudge forward to dropping the whole bit.

Maybe? Possibly? Pretty please?

I have to say, in the world-o-snapchat, would you believe I've only slipped one time on having CB in the video? ONE TIME! Thirteen of you saw CB before I caught it 5 minutes later. I assume you probably had no idea it was even him.

Anyway....... I've ranted enough this morning, here are some snaps from our awesome weekend!

I picked my mom up from the airport on Friday after work and we ate dinner at my second favorite pizza place in Dallas, Enos.

The next morning we pampered ourselves with strawberry toast and cold brew from a new coffee spot down the street, Cultivar, and mani/pedis before heading to the AT&T Byron Nelson Golf Tournament to cheer my favorite golfer on, Sergio!

Sergio won, BTW!

It was about a trillion degrees and 10000000% humidity, but we still had a ton of fun. I also had a couple of the Real Housewives of Dallas following me around, begging for a photo. So rude, right? I had to tell them 100 times that I just couldn't take photos with every single fan of mine, there wasn't enough time in the day.

The next morning we went to one of my favorite spots, the Dallas Farmer's Market to buy flowers for our back yard. My mom insisted that it was time that I grew up and did things like plant flowers. Yikes. More on this whole "adult flower thing" later in the week....

We finished the weekend by playing the ponies at Lonestar Park.
As you might remember, CB and I will always have fond memories of Lonestar Park!

My momma will be here through tomorrow, and then one of my very best friends who I haven't seen in more than two years will be coming in from Knoxville and I'm so excited my head is going to EXPLODE.

And now to tackle this short work week.........

Fan Friday || Win 2 Free Tickets to the AT&T Byron Nelson

Golf will always hold a soft spot in my heart, more than any other sport out there. Golf was my Dad's favorite sport, and some of my favorite memories the two of us shared happened on the golf course. I was a die hard, year-round basketball player, but I know he always wished that I had made golf my number one focus. I was pretty good considering I never practiced and would only go out and play with him every few months.

When you're a little girl, it is very hard to remain focused for 18 holes of golf. One time, at Band Camp Disney World, we were playing golf and a rogue golf club (PSA: People get mad during golf and throw things) smacked me upside the head as I was doing cartwheels in the fairway. Obviously the guy who threw his club was in the wrong there, but maybe don't take a 9 year old obsessed with gymnastics to play 18 holes of golf in Disney World.

As I've grown older -- and am no longer physically able to do cartwheels -- I've really started to enjoy both playing and watching golf. When I play golf and do well, I know my Dad is up there watching, starting a slow clap after a good chip shot. I picture him giving me a big, excited thumbs up from across the green when I take my time, line up a putt... then sink it.

June 2nd will mark 10 years since I lost my Dad, and I've already asked CB if we could go golfing after work that day in his honor. I have no doubt that would be what he would want.

Well, he'd also want Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols to win a National Championship, but seeing as Pat Summitt no longer coaches and UCONN doesn't know how to properly share National Championships with other teams, I think we'll settle on playing golf.

If you haven't been keeping up with the PGA Tour as of late, you're missing some of the best golfers to ever play the game. Unfortunately, as you know, our household generally has to DVR the PGA Tour, but not next weekend!

I'm really pumped because my Mom is coming in town and we are going to be able to watch it live and in person right here in Dallas at the AT&T Byron Nelson Tournament! Some of my favorite players have committed, like Dallas local legend Jordan Spieth, my favorite player of all time Sergio Garcia and one of CB's favorites Dustin Johnson.

PLUS....
I have TWO SINGLE DAY PASSES to give away!!!!!

If you want to spend a day at the AT&T Byron Nelson Tournament watching some of the best to ever play the sport... just enter below!

I'll be picking the winner first thing Monday morning!
GOOD LUCK!

A Very Basic Guide to Hockey

What a time to be alive in Dallas.

What a time.

The MAVS and STARS are IN. THE. PLAYOFFFSSSSS! The Mavs start the playoffs this Saturday against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Stars began their playoff quest last night with a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Oh, and hey, look... a Fan Friday post for the first time in a long while!
I'm very sorry, I get the sports sads in the football offseason.

You guys know I'll never bullshit with you when it comes to sports. If I don't know it, I'll admit that. I am NOT a hockey expert. I have been to many hockey games though thanks to my friend Vanessa, who is as die hard about the Dallas Stars as they come. She holds Stars season tickets, and what do I love more than anything in this world? HOLDING TICKETS! Naturally, we hit it off immediately.

Vanessa has been kind enough to invite me along as her plus one to many games over the past two years. I still don't know the majority of what is going on, but I have picked up a few things to watch for here and there. Today I thought I'd share those things.

This post will be a VERY basic, beginner's guide to hockey. Enough info so you can watch the playoffs (and *ahem* root for the Stars *ahem*) and know what is going on.

Should a hockey expert be writing this post? Yes.
Am I still going to write it anyway? Yes.

If you are a giant hockey fan, I hope you will still get some enjoyment out of this post and leave a comment below with anything I've missed that you think a new fan needs to know!

1. There are a mind blowing amount of female hockey fans

Female hockey fans are the bomb. They know every single detail, stat, player, coach, rule... everything. Most of the female hockey fans I've met are die hard about one sport and one sport only, HOCKEY. They eat, sleep, live, breathe hockey. Go to a Dallas Stars game and you'll see just as many, if not more, female fans as male fans.

This sports loving female, totally digs that.
Oh, and did I mention that we all share a hatred for pink jerseys?

2. Number of players on the ice
Six players on the ice per team. 5 skaters, 1 goalie.

3. Offsides
Y'all know I travel for work to Canada each year. My first year, someone tried to explain hockey to me. This was before I'd ever been to a game or even met my friend, Vanessa. They all said you really need to start by understanding ONE rule.... Offsides

I'm going to try and simplify this rule for you.

Have you ever heard of the term "cherry picking" in basketball? Cherry picking is when a player refuses to go down to the other side of the court to play defense, and instead just sits under his own basket waiting for someone to pass him the ball for an easy score. Like the red dot in this chart...

OFFSIDES in hockey prevents a scenario just like this from happening. You are not allowed to just stand by the opposing goal and wait for your teammate to feed you the puck.

Simply put, you are not allowed to cross that blue line on the ice, before the puck does.
Example:

There is also another scenario that plays a big part in the Offsides call in hockey.

Let's say the Stars are on offense trying to score, but someone from the other team hits the puck past all of the Stars players, and on to the other side of that blue line...

All of our Stars players have to cross BACK over that blue line, before the puck can cross back into the offensive territory again.

If you're trying to keep your offensive momentum, you really need to keep the puck on the right side of that blue line. Should it cross to the left, your whole team has to cross back over before you can pick up your offensive attack again.

4. Power Plays / Penalty Kill

If there's one thing I know, and I think you guys know... it's football. Let's talk football real fast. Pretend your team's defender gets a Pass Interference penalty called on him. Normally, that would result in an automatic first down at the spot of the foul for the offense.

Well in HOCKEY, a penalty results in what I like to call a time out for bad behavior. This is more commonly referred to as "the penalty box". If a player commits a penalty, he has to go sit in the penalty box for a set number of minutes based on the severity of the penalty.

Let's say this Minnesota Wild player just committed a penalty against the Dallas Stars....

That means the Dallas Stars are now ON A POWER PLAY! This is a huge deal, because the Minnesota Wild now have to play with one less player on the ice, so the Stars have a one man advantage.

In turn, the Minnesota Wild are now on what is called a PENALTY KILL, where they are trying to stop the Stars from easily scoring until that penalized player is allowed to return to the ice.

Fun fact, there can be more than one player in the penalty box at one time, making the Power Play a huge opportunity for the other team. It is important to note though, that the lowest number of men on the ice it can go is 5 vs 3.

On a minor penalty (2 minutes) a goal automatically ENDS the Power Play.

5. The Enforcer

This is not an actual hockey role, but more of an unofficial player that every team has. This is the guy who wants to fight. He's the tough guy who's going to address any dirty play by the opposing team.

That guy for the Dallas Stars is Antoine Roussel. For example, if someone has an uncalled for, violent play against our golden boy Jamie Benn, you're likely to see Roussel handling some business later in the game.

Just like when that little girl took my lunch money in 2nd grade and my mom decked her square in the mouth two days later and said, "BITCH BETTER HAVE MY MONEY!

JK LOL. That didn't happen or my mother would probably be in prison.
You get the point of the enforcer though, right?

----
Those are the 5 very simple things this newbie has learned so far about hockey.

Oh, and if you go to a Stars game be prepared to do the following:

- Do the Dallas Stars crowd chant after a goal:
Bum-bum! DALLAS! Bum-bum! STARS!
Bum-bum! DALLAS! Bum-bum! STARS!

- Yell "Who Cares?" after the announcer says who scored the opposing team's goal

- They'll show a clip of "PeeWee Herman's Big Adventure"
Pee Wee will sing: "The Stars at night are big and bright..."
You then scream and clap: "Deep In The Heart of Texas"

- During the National Anthem, the crowd yells STARS during the following lines:
"Whose broad stripes and bright STARS"
"O say, does that STARS-spangled banner"
