On Being "Outdoorsy"

As I packed my gym bag, I told CB that I felt like this was going to be a great week. We've got nothing on the agenda that should throw us off track, no wine walks or baseball games. I dunno, I'm feeling great about this week. I'm feeling like there's no reason I can't either hit the gym or play some tennis each day this week, get a blog post up every single day and contact some companies I've been really wanting to collaborate with. I'm feeling super motivated. I'm not sure what's causing this motivation but I'm sure it has something to do with Starbucks Iced Coffee which I so fondly refer to as my motivational liquid.

As I mentioned on Instagram, this past weekend we went camping. I'm going to say the thing that "cool, chill girls" aren't supposed to say.... I'm not really the outdoorsy type. This might be somewhat surprising considering how much I love watching and playing sports, but I hate getting dirty. I know, I know. I'm for sure not a girly girl, but bugs freak me out and weird sounds keep my eyes wide open. I'm a scaredy cat, so sue me. I know I'm not supposed to admit all of that out loud, but I'd rather be in the city with a martini than in the woods with a canteen. Again, so sue me.

This may be TMI but it was that time of the month for me the last time we went camping, and Brick Tamland had me absolutely convinced that the bears would without a doubt be a problem. I assumed they'd rip our tent to shreds and eat me first, then Veenie. General and CB would probably be masculine enough to get away unharmed.

Also, someone telling me to just pee behind a tree doesn't work for me. While yes, I did my fair share of partying in college, I never was able to master the squat and pee. I know what you're thinking... what a waste of a college education.

This round of camping though was far more my speed. CB's mom actually rented us a cute little cabin that had a toilet, a bed and....... A SHOWER! OMG! We brought our bikes, CB and I napped for several hours, there was plenty of bug spray and pizza was even involved. What wasn't to like? Veenie came too, but since General doesn't do well off a leash, (read: will run at first available squirrel and every squirrel there after and may never return) so he stayed home to protect the house.

The weather was picture perfect and dare I say, I didn't hate it. Maybe even kind of liked it. Shhhh don't tell CB.

Here are some snaps from the weekend....

We stopped in Paris on the way down. Who knew Paris was right on the way to Broken Bow, Oklahoma?!?!? Geography, fascinating isn't it?

We hiked the simple but beautiful "Cedar Bluff" trail in Beavers Bend State Park. Notice the strategic Veenie placement...

We made several stops along the way to take some pictures of the scenery. By that I mean I yelled at my boyfriend to PULLOVERNOWWWWWWW!

I'm sorry to have done this to you.....

But we had pizza at a place called Grateful Head Pizza and it is a MUST GO TO if you're visiting Broken Bow. Like, YOU MUST GO. I'm sure you can tell though, from the photo, that you must visit.

We also had a super cute beer flight at the Beavers Bend Brewery. I love IPAs and theirs was fantastic!

Veenie and I rooted for CB to catch a whole bunch of fish, but unfortunately the water was flowing way too fast for any kind of successful fishing. It certainly wasn't because Veenie and I didn't send all of our good fishing luck vibes his way!

All in all, it was a great weekend and I'm ready to crush all the things this week!

I'm going to be a Fitbit challenge winning, blog posting, blogger template selling, eating healthy machine!!!!

  8. This is my kind of camping...I call it glamping. I will camp in a tent but there must be a good-quality bathhouse within close walking distance. I do not pee in the woods and this is the only way I glamp. :)
