I am bursting with excitement over Halloween this year. I've got a good majority of my costume complete for the Halloween party we'll be hosting at our house on Saturday. My costume is part of a trio with CB and our friend, Taylor. Any ideas on what our costume is?! I'll give you a hint, it's potentially the most comfortable I've ever dressed for Halloween. As I get older, this is a major plus.
Although Halloween isn't until Saturday, gold skulls and studded pumpkins have been floating around the house since early October. I can't say that I really care for the spooky or scary side of Halloween (you couldn't pay me to go to a haunted house), but give me candy and a costume party and I'm on board!
The same goes for any cute Halloween traditions, like sending a friend or neighbor a "You've Been Boo'ed" gift basket. The concept is that you trick-or-treat a friend a more adult appropriate goodie basket --- think WINE --- and they're expected to then pay it forward to another friend. I decided to send a Hallo-WINE themed gift basket for the ultimate wine lover, with the help of Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Strawberry Kabobs (recipe below)
I also made Strawberry Kabobs, which I included in the basket. These are really simple and pair perfectly with either wine. Duh, chocolate is universal.
Strawberry Kababs
(this usually also needs a couple eggs, oil and water)
Mini Muffin tin
1 package of Strawberries
A few squares of melting chocolate
Skewers
Marshmallows
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. You'll want to use a muffin tin for your brownies, instead of a normal pan, and spray it with non-stick spray. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Carefully scoop brownie batter into muffin tin, leaving some extra room at the top of each pour since the brownie will rise. I am not a clean person in the kitchen, so this was a challenge for me!
Just so we're clear here, brownies taste delicious even if they don't look absolutely perfect
Cook your brownies according to package directions, but keep in mind you're using a much different pan than probably suggested by the brownie box. I decreased the recommended total cook time by about 6 minutes. Remove from oven and let your brownies cool.
Cut both ends off your strawberries so that each side is flat, then slide them onto your skewers, followed by your marshmallows and brownies. Align each skewer on a clean plate.
Melt your baking chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between. When your chocolate is melted, pour it into a ziplock bag and slice a tiny sliver off the bag's corner.
Drizzle your chocolate all over your skewers and refrigerate until you're ready to serve.

Such an adorable idea. If I were to get "Boo'd" I would hope it would include my man Robert.
ReplyDeleteYou made such an amazing basket! I have had my eye on that Crate and Barrel wine stopper! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!! Your basket is adorable and I love the printables! #client
ReplyDeleteThe strawberry kababs are so cute! I know my parents would love this! I, on the other hand, would much prefer a vodka lover's basket ;)
