This whole cooking thing has been a challenge for me. Although I'm learning more and more with each passing meal, I still have to google dumb stuff that I would imagine most people would just instinctively know how to do.
Most nights, I'll ask CB what he wants for dinner, and his response will be, "Just pickup something easy!" Well, I have one, and only one dinner dish that I know how to do without following a recipe, and it was one Magen taught me wayyyyy back in college.
At the very least, I try to eat as healthy as possible Monday through Thursday. It is really tricky to find recipes that are not only easy, but also low calorie and don't have a trillion ingredients. If an ingredient list is more than I can count on my fingers, it'll go in the nope pile for me. Throw in the fact that you're trying to cook low-cal meals that a dude will also enjoy, and you've got a challenge on your hand.
Over the past year, I've stumbled on a few recipes I've made that stand out from the rest. If you're looking for weeknight meals that are healthy, taste amazing, include a low number of ingredients, are easy and will also please a dude, I've got you covered with these dishes!

These all look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI really really believe in emeals. you don't have to go searching for a recipe, they come up with 7 new ones every week for you! but that lemon chicken you made for us the other week was so delicious and I love having a bank of recipes like this i can always rely on!
ReplyDeleteYou read my mind!! I was going to ask Sarah if she's heard of eMeals and say it's a definite win. We love it!
DeleteOk totaly self promotion here but i have a couple super easy, man pleasing recipes on my blog too :) My husband always tells me "make sure it doesn't take forever to make"
ReplyDeleteI love these though. You can never go wrong with asparagus!
You are a godsend! Seriously, my husband and I have been talking about making healthier choices for a long time now but we never really stick to anything because of convenience. Today, he came home from work early because he was feeling light headed. This has happened pretty often lately and he attributes it to his un-healthy lifestyle. So literally just a few minutes ago, right before I read this, we decided to make the commitment to eat healthier for every meal starting today! Now I just have to decide which one of these we will have tonight!
ReplyDeleteMy guy is so picky this is helpful! If it's not pizza, steak, or hamburgers he's not into it
ReplyDeleteYUM! That's something I am nervous about moving in together is cooking/eating. Brian is so picky.. he doesn't eat tomatoes. RUDE.
ReplyDeleteThese look great! The problem I always come across when I try to make a healthy meal is that Dave tells me they aren't filling enough! I'll just lie to him and tell him they aren't healthy ;)

I notice a common trend: chicken! Good thing I love it way more than beef!
ReplyDeleteI love the Skinnytaste blog, she always has the best recipes. Plus I love that she tells you the portion size. The Skinny Fork is another good website with low cal dishes, and most of hers are crock pot recipes that you can start before you go to work and it's done when you get home.
ReplyDeleteYes!!! I need more recipes! I'm thinking about trying Blue Apron soon, too.
ReplyDeletePinned for later! Can't wait to make some of these. Especially #11. Mhmmm!
ReplyDeleteSome blood nice sounding recipes and some not so nice for me
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post!! I live in a dorm but I love to cook. These are recipes I might have to try!
