Having that as a post title might be the most shameless way of getting you to read my blog that I've ever used. It worked though, you're here aren't you? Howdy! Welcome to Monday, February and a oh-crap-there's-no-more-football-for-seven-months-hangover, folks!
Yesterday, just like most of you, we hit up a Super Bowl party at a friend's house. CB's friend, who hosted the party also has a pup and a big back yard, so Veenie was invited to come Super Bowl with everyone. Gee was not invited because last time we visited this particular back yard, he escaped through a very small hole in the fence, only to be found squirrel searching in a neighboring yard, several hours later.
Veenie put on her finest cheerleading outfit, and we headed off! And for those of you wondering, yes I still have my Christmas tree up. I have no excuse other than I'm just very lazy, and the tiny box that holds that large tree is very intimidating.
On the drive across town, Veenie insisted that we take some unnecessary selfies. She is such a blogger daughter.
We stopped to grab a quick bite of lunch. You might be
shocked to hear that I have lived in Dallas for two and a half years, yet have never been to this particular locale. Although I had never been, I was fully aware of the 4 photograph minimum that is required when you order
anything at all.
The curse of the NFC reared its ugly head yet again last night. I should have taken this curse into account when I placed a rather important bet on the Seahawks... and then of course lost said rather important bet.
I mean, think about it...
Detroit loses to Dallas on controversial (no)call.
Dallas pays for that no call in loss to Green Bay on absurd call (p.s. it was a catch).
Green Bay pays for blown catch call by losing in horrific, "man they totally blew it" fashion to Seattle.
Then the chain ends with Seattle blowing it in the last seconds of the game to Pats.
Ok but, you have someone on your team nicknamed Beast Mode.... Yeah, naw. It's cool, we have a great wide receiving core. I mean, heck, we got one of our wide receivers out of a foot locker at the beginning of the season. Yeah, naw. Forget the game plan that worked all season long. Let's just throw it directly into traffic instead. I simply cannot believe that didn't work out! Shucks!
One day. One day I'll root for someone who wins. It won't be today, it won't be tomorrow. But a girl can sure dream that one day the good lord will remove this horrific jinx that has been placed on her.
I'm sorry Seattle fans, this is all my fault. Don't blame Pete Carroll, don't blame Russell Wilson, don't blame that wide receiver who started the season controlling crowds on black Friday at Foot Locker.... blame me. I publicly endorsed your team, and for that I apologize.
While we are at it, let me get some other apologies off my chest. I apologize to the following football teams whose seasons I ruined by publicly cheering for them in select very important games... I'm very sorry Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, TCU, Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. I'm very sorry for your loss. RIP.
Ah yesterday's game was so frustrating!! I also blame my mom who got a little pour happy and presumptively poured the celebratory shots right before we threw that interception.

ReplyDeleteIn and Out is a California staple and these pictures are making me want a double, double right about now.
ReplyDeleteOn behalf of the Broncos, I forgive you. But don't let it happen again.
ReplyDeleteI think it's perfectly acceptable to still have the tree up whens it's as pretty as that. Also, sorry for losing. But i won bc Katy's performance was AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI feel responsible too... I knew I should have worn red so I could totally ruin the Pat's chances at a win!!! No instead I wore green and blue, had the pets dressed in green and blue and my husband even put on a Pearl Jam (nod to Seattle) tshirt that was green! GRRR!
ReplyDeleteI refuse to let you apologize for my Colts losing. I am blaming Belichick and Tom Stupid Face Brady, and no one else!
ReplyDeleteUgh what even WAS that call?? They couldn't just rush the ball into the end zone, oh NO, that would have been too easy! However Veenie looked fabulous in her cheerleader outfit!
ReplyDeletethat cheerleading outfit is so on point + now I want cheeseburgers... Also, my favorite explanation for that play call is there is an "anti-Marshawn conspiracy" which I can only assume is being bankrolled by the candy companies in direct competition with Skittles..
ReplyDeleteAs an avid hater of the Seahawks, THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteAlso, they have In N Out in Dallas now? I miss the days when that was just a California thing!
The title worked on me. I'll click on anything that says In 'n Out Burger. Also, what an ending to that game...I actually shrieked, despite not caring for either team.
ReplyDeleteI was so furious at that last play!! I couldn't believe it! It made no sense at all whatsoever....grrr! Okay, I feel myself getting fired up all over again so I'll stop. haha! I wish we had an In and Out Burger near us. So many people have posted pics and it looks soooo good!
ReplyDeleteIn and Out is our go-to lazy dinner food. If we can't think of something to eat, most likely we are going to suggest fantastic burgers. Glad you finally got some!!
ReplyDeleteVeenie looks to cute in her outfit. I sadly didn't watch the game yesterday. My husband watched the game and gave me the recap of it.
ReplyDeleteoh, forget about in and out for the post title...your ADORABLE dog won me over!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous that I don't have In and Out in Virginia! I love that Veenie is all dressed up and ready.
ReplyDeleteThe last two minutes of yesterday's game were UNREAL. I was screaming at my tv and almost pulling my hair out.
ReplyDeleteLOL I always love reading your posts! Your dog has the cutest selfies with you :)
ReplyDeleteNow I want a burger and chips................just saying
ReplyDeleteI think it is thanks to you that my streak ended. whomever I cheer for loses but this time my Pats had the good Karma.. so thanks for that, Appears you either cheer louder so your bad luck won out or .. who knows but thanks.. lol
ReplyDeleteThat burger is the business is right? I normally don't do fast food, but when I do In and Out get the green light. I think the fries are my favorite part. Oh, now I'm hungry.

We are currently debating going on a road trip just to try In and Out. Our closest one is in California and I live in Washington, boo. Also, I do not know if I can forgive you for the Seahawks losing ;D
ReplyDeleteYour shameless title definitely worked for me!! Haha. "A number two with no salt on the patty, but salt on the fries, with just lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. And fries well-done." EVERY. TIME.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I shed some tears over yesterday's loss, but I tried to keep my post humble. Second, I love when people say they HATE the seahawks... Sorry we have a good team? Ha. Third, sometimes I forget how much I heart you and your blog. That's all.
ReplyDeleteGood God Almighty - those pictures made me drool a little...who am I kidding?...they made me drool a lot!
ReplyDeleteI call fibs on that statement ("no more football for 7 months")!!!! In my house, signing day is TOMORROW and that means football is still here.......shit.
ReplyDeleteAlso...can we get some jams (Jamberry) on those purty little (ahem - chipped) nails of yours!? ;-)
