As we were driving home from Fort Worth this weekend, CB (Chalupa Batman if you're new here) goes, "Man we just seem to keep hammering out amazing weekend after amazing weekend." Boy is that an understatement because this weekend was yet another one for the books!
Friday afternoon my mom and her husband Bobby flew in to Dallas where they were immediately tested for Ebola and rode the new Orange Dart Line (the Dallas rail system) from the airport directly to my apartment and timed it perfectly to arrive right when I got home from work!
We immediately poured some cocktails, and CB came over to get grilled by meet my mom and Bobby for the first time! They of course hit it off, as I knew they would, and we headed to a new place in Deep Ellum called the Cold Beer Company for dinner. I had a hot dog with macaroni and cheese on it, so I'll just leave that here, along with a picture of my delicious mason jar cocktail!
After I forced the parental unit to endure the uber trendy night life Deep Ellum has to offer (
aka Truth and Alibi) CB and I split off and headed to
our my new favorite dance club, the
Red Light Lounge. It is owned by the
Lizard Lounge, and I'm fairly certain it's an unofficial gay club, making it even more awesome. There was a $20 per person cover for this place that night, because there was what they labeled as a "World Famous DJ" playing, named
Green Velvet. Now having just come back from
TomorrowWorld with
Helene I was a tough one to impress, but it was pretty sweet and I say worth the 20 bucks!
The next morning, I peeled myself out of the airbed, started cranking out Rocky Top from the speakers, and Veenie and I sang loudly in our pajamas.
I'll take pictures you should not post on the internet for $500, Alex.
We went and watched the Tennessee game, and I then became sad for the next several hours. Enough on that topic...
I was healed though when we all headed to the
Texas State Fair for fried foods, beers and unicorn basketball.

This is a fried S'Mores and this is the culmination of all things holy in this world. Also, I'm totally aware that I didn't blur my sunglasses out.... so go ahead and be creepy.
I also have a really really good story about the basketball game. I wanted to win another unicorn because these were different from the one I won at Six Flags and I needed it, duh. So I gave all of my money to the man at the basketball game. In return I was given 7...9...10...14 shot attempts. I missed on every single one. To win the unicorn you needed to make two shots. I was totally out of coupons, but I haggled with the man and said, "JUST ONE MORE CHANCE, IF I MAKE THIS SHOT I GET THE UNICORN!"
Seeing as I had just missed the previous 14 attempts, he agreed.
And what do you think I did??? #nothingbutfluffynet
I treated my new friend to a Moscow Mule to celebrate our new friendship.
On Sunday, the four of us went to the most RIDICULOUS Cowboys home (away) game ever. There were just as many Houston fans there as Cowboys fans, it was nuts. I'll give it to that fan base, they came out in droves. But alas, whomp whomp whomp for them! Cowboys won a thriller in OT!
I also really loved the halftime show featuring breast cancer survivors! October in the NFL is my favorite.
And then my boyfriend and I hung out with my other boyfriend.
(the three of us have a pretty open relationship)
How was your weekend?
Football was nuts, were you happy or sad about this weekend's massive upsets??
