As we were driving home from Fort Worth this weekend, CB (Chalupa Batman if you're new here) goes, "Man we just seem to keep hammering out amazing weekend after amazing weekend." Boy is that an understatement because this weekend was yet another one for the books!
Friday afternoon my mom and her husband Bobby flew in to Dallas where they were immediately tested for Ebola and rode the new Orange Dart Line (the Dallas rail system) from the airport directly to my apartment and timed it perfectly to arrive right when I got home from work!
We immediately poured some cocktails, and CB came over to get grilled by meet my mom and Bobby for the first time! They of course hit it off, as I knew they would, and we headed to a new place in Deep Ellum called the Cold Beer Company for dinner. I had a hot dog with macaroni and cheese on it, so I'll just leave that here, along with a picture of my delicious mason jar cocktail!
After I forced the parental unit to endure the uber trendy night life Deep Ellum has to offer (
aka Truth and Alibi) CB and I split off and headed to
our my new favorite dance club, the
Red Light Lounge. It is owned by the
Lizard Lounge, and I'm fairly certain it's an unofficial gay club, making it even more awesome. There was a $20 per person cover for this place that night, because there was what they labeled as a "World Famous DJ" playing, named
Green Velvet. Now having just come back from
TomorrowWorld with
Helene I was a tough one to impress, but it was pretty sweet and I say worth the 20 bucks!
The next morning, I peeled myself out of the airbed, started cranking out Rocky Top from the speakers, and Veenie and I sang loudly in our pajamas.
I'll take pictures you should not post on the internet for $500, Alex.
We went and watched the Tennessee game, and I then became sad for the next several hours. Enough on that topic...
I was healed though when we all headed to the
Texas State Fair for fried foods, beers and unicorn basketball.
This is a fried S'Mores and this is the culmination of all things holy in this world. Also, I'm totally aware that I didn't blur my sunglasses out.... so go ahead and be creepy.
I also have a really really good story about the basketball game. I wanted to win another unicorn because these were different from the one I won at Six Flags and I needed it, duh. So I gave all of my money to the man at the basketball game. In return I was given 7...9...10...14 shot attempts. I missed on every single one. To win the unicorn you needed to make two shots. I was totally out of coupons, but I haggled with the man and said, "JUST ONE MORE CHANCE, IF I MAKE THIS SHOT I GET THE UNICORN!"
Seeing as I had just missed the previous 14 attempts, he agreed.
And what do you think I did??? #nothingbutfluffynet
I treated my new friend to a Moscow Mule to celebrate our new friendship.
On Sunday, the four of us went to the most RIDICULOUS Cowboys home (away) game ever. There were just as many Houston fans there as Cowboys fans, it was nuts. I'll give it to that fan base, they came out in droves. But alas, whomp whomp whomp for them! Cowboys won a thriller in OT!
I also really loved the halftime show featuring breast cancer survivors! October in the NFL is my favorite.
And then my boyfriend and I hung out with my other boyfriend.
(the three of us have a pretty open relationship)
How was your weekend?
Football was nuts, were you happy or sad about this weekend's massive upsets??
what an awesome weekend! Any weekend that involves festivals and TWO football games sounds glorious in my book!
ReplyDeleteOMG that hot dog was MADE for me. And talk about amazing weekends! You put the rest of us to shame!!!
ReplyDeleteA hot dog with mac and cheese? Now, I'm starving. That looks so good!
ReplyDeleteOh man. That was a really good game! How fun that you were there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a blast with your mom. Moms are the best.
I never thought of adding Mac and cheese to a hot dog although it just seems right. I guess that's the point of going to restaurants, so we can be introduced to the next big thing :-) looks like a fun weekend. Glad your mom came to visit! And that she liked CB
ReplyDeleteA HOT DOG. WITH MACARONI AND CHEESE ON IT. MIND BLOWN.
ReplyDeleteAll that food...I'm now craving a mac and cheese hot dog!

ReplyDeleteI need that hot dog in my life like yesterday.. looks like a hell of a weekend!
ReplyDeleteCowboys all day baby! And yay for an awesome weekend. Completely jealous that you were at the game though. I didn't even get to watch it, I had to hide in a corner at work to stalk the updates.

I had a great weekend with my boyfriend too. Well, Friday night was disappointing because we went to the Angels/Royals game and we're huge Angels fans, but Saturday we took his kids to the car show and had a blast. I had no idea looking at tons of cars could be so much fun.
ReplyDeleteThat hot dog looks amazing. So glad you had a great weekend
ReplyDeleteTHAT HOT DOG OH MY GOD. I'm super full after just finishing my lunch but that looks amazingggggggg.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit it: I'm one of the creeps. I desperately want to see Chalupa Batman. Also, cannot believe you won the unicorn. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteI need to get my butt to the State Fair stat!! Sound like a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I love more....all of the fried food deliciousness in this post or your "third down for what" tshirt!! LOVE!!! PS. this was my first weekend ever in Texas and I'm obsessed. This post did not help!
ReplyDeleteFluffy Unicorns! Do we get a family picture soon of all the fluffiness that is living at your apartment now?

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm over football... UNC has been doing awful... I'm ready for basketball season. But all that food and all those drinks make me want to binge eat anything and everything that is unhealthy.
ReplyDeleteMy weekend consisted of makeup, pizza & naps.. but yours sounds good too... :)

I'm not "new round here per se", but I definitely didn't realize what CB stood for. I died instantly! Love that show! Glad you had a good weekend with your Momma, those truly are amazing weekends! xoxo, ganeegan
ReplyDeleteI want that hot dog. and your purse. right meow.
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what I am more jealous about, that super cheesy pizza or the fried s'mores, they certainly look so delicious; and girl you look so pretty in that picture by yourself :)

I can't even talk about upset weekend. It's still far too painful to endure.
ReplyDeleteLet's just say, watching the underdog storm the field and carry the goalposts through campus after a crazy win was not something that I was expecting to see when I made the trip to Oxford on Saturday...Also, I really hate Florida and I really hate that TN lost on Saturday as well. Can we just have a football Saturday do-over?!
Sounds like a bloody great weekend
ReplyDeleteYour Cowboys game outfit is so cute! I especially love the sparkly bag - Although a little surprised they let you in the stadium with a purse that big! I've gone to a few Detroit Lions games and they are soooo strict about the NFL bag size! I guess everything in Texas is bigger!
ReplyDeleteYour mom is the cutest! What a fun weekend with your parents! I had the fried smores a couple of years ago and I'm pretty sure it changed my life!
