.....
I hope you laughed at that.
Last Friday, I flew to Kentucky for the Kentucky Derby with Cottonelle. I headed directly from the airport to the hotel to get ready for the next day, and of course for a good night's beauty sleep.
Saturday morning, bright and early, I first took a selfie, then headed downstairs to catch our ride to the Derby. I had the pleasure of meeting three of the sweetest new friends, Erin, Whitley and Lindsay. At around 1:00 pm, we arrived at the Derby in style!
We were immediately greeted by Natalie, our Cottonelle host for the derby! Talk about Sarah's day of meeting new friends, right? Natalie couldn't have been nicer, or more welcoming! I mean, she took us straight to see the bathrooms. That is what you do with all new friends you meet, right?! :)
Did we get some weird looks talking selfies and group pictures in the bathroom, we did, yes. Thank you for asking. BUT WHO CARES WE WERE AT THE CATALINA WINE MIXER KENTUCKY DERBY. If there is one thing I've learned over the years, you shouldn't take yourself so seriously!
Our next stop was the Cottonelle clean room. This was where all of the celebrities walking the red carpet could freshen up, grab a cocktail if they like and even get a makeup touchup. The best celebrities were the ones that would stop and chat with Cherry, Cottonelle's spokesperson. Take Mary Wilson from the Supremes for example. What a good sport to come talk bums with everyone! As you can see from my only image of Mary, I do not have a paparazzi career in my future.
After the celebrity stalking died down a bit, we had some photog fun of our own in the green room!
And then we headed out to the red carpet where we met designer Kiel James Patrick and his fiance, Sarah. These two were so fabulous and impeccably dressed, plus they humored us and agreed to pose for all 38 iPhones that wanted a picture! Group pics are hard....
But we eventually got it figured out!
We were then off to find the adorable mini Moet bottles we had been spotting all afternoon, followed by exploring the owners' suites on the 5th floor.... naturally.
About an hour before race time, we moseyed our way on over to our seats in section 111. What an incredible, incredible, incredible experience. I've been to a lot of sporting events, but nothing compares (will ever compare) with this exhilarating 2 minute race.
And then it was time to go back to our normal homes, to our normal lives, living again as normal members of society. Thank you so much Cottonelle for giving this girl an experience of a lifetime. It was absolutely unbelievable, unforgettable and downright surreal.
