Must Do All of the Things

The March Madness hangover in the Dallas air today is palpable. Yes I realize that the National Championship is still to come tonight, but with all of the festivities over the weekend I think we are all left a little puffy eyed and, well, just puffy!

As I mentioned on Friday, I had a 3 day weekend, which was a delightful last-minute treat. So Thursday night I battled the severe weather warnings (which turned out to only be some mild lightning) and headed to the NCAA College Slam Dunk & 3-point Championships. I got my ticket off of Living Social and actually spent more money on parking than on the ticket itself! Since it was General Admission, as a single rider, I was able to hop on a killer seat, even though I was pretty late getting there.

And then the best thing of all time happened, Jason Witten was announced as a judge for the slam dunk contest. And then I became a giddy little school girl running around looking for a better seat to get to stare at his adorable face.

I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from Jason Witten... maybe for him to throw his cards down, rush into the stands when he saw my Tennessee shirt and plant a big one on me. (That's what she said...)

Anyway, Friday I went to my very first Nascar Race. I thought I was just going to the race with free tickets through work, I wasn't aware that we had Luxury Suite tickets. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out it was all the free food and beer and wine I could consume. High five!

Oh and I also met this guy. On a totally related note, I spent several hours on Sunday watching Duck Dynasty for the first time. Hello, new favorite show. I kinda shocked myself how much I was digging this show. Guess I got a little redneck in me after all! Or maybe it was just cause I thought Jep was totally the cutest thing in the history of giant beards. His gorgeous wife probably agrees. *sad face*

On Saturday I checked out the Deep Ellum Arts Festival. As I've mentioned about a billion times, this is where I live and I love love love it. It's funny, when I tell people who have lived in Dallas for quite some time that I live in Deep Ellum, they get anxious for my safety. But really, it is the best neighborhood that has (from what I'm told) undergone the most incredible transformation. I think eclectic is a great word to describe the vibe!

That last one is on my balcony, what a beautiful night it was on Saturday night! Followed by rain rain and more rain all day on Sunday. Veenie was excited though because it meant I was staying in all day, she was happier than a dog with peanut butter on her nose.... oh wait, no, I'm sorry.... she was a dog with peanut butter on her nose.
