1. House Hunters.
Do you have those Saturday morning shows that you sit down to watch for just a few minutes before you need to get up, get out and run your errands? Take House Hunters for example, you watch the first episode, which automatically transitions without a commercial break to the next episode, you get all wrapped up in the show and can't leave until you find out which house they choose, then all of a sudden they've picked a home and you are meeting a new couple looking for a home in San Fran and you are paralyzed to the couch for another half an hour, yet again. And the cycle continues. Instead of wasting your entire Saturday, DVR house hunters and watch it any time you like!
2. Jeopardy
I cannot watch Jeopardy alone. I'll call out answers, then when I get them right, I need congratulations and praise from someone else. I need people to know I was intelligent enough to know that Brad Pitt was the star of the movie Benjamin Button or that protons and neutrons make up a nucleus (I think... right?). So far, neither General nor Venus are at a training level of issuing marks of praise. So instead, I DVR Jeopardy and force people who come over to watch and play along with me.
Wow, I sound super cool right now.
3. Wheel of Fortune
See also: Jeopardy. Dang it General and Venus, please hurry up and learn to play along with me.
#crazydoglady
4. Girl Code
You want blog post inspiration? Then you've got a friend in girl code. I have no idea when this show comes on, but what I do know is that each episode, when you remove commercials, is like 17 seconds long. I need more Girl Code in one sitting than just 17 seconds. This show is like crack to me, I just can't quit it. Trust me, DVR this show. Then vote me on as a cast member, #pleaseandthankyou.
5. Vintage MTV
I'm clearly using the term vintage lightly here, seeing as the hills has only been off the air for a hot second. P.S. look at those dresses.... WOOF!
When I see people tweeting at 11:30am on a Tuesday "YAY there is a Hills marathon on", or "Spending my afternoon enjoying back to back to back episodes of True Life" I get really irritated because I want to watch those! Doesn't MTV know that I have a job? Rude Ticket. Well I'll just outsmart MTV. DVR to the rescue.

Ok without further adiue, I want you to meet my friend Kaylee from With Love and Heartness. Kaylee is the sweetest person and I've enjoyed the chance to get to know her a little better after conducting this interview!
1. Tell us the story about how you came up with your blog name:
My little brother wanted to give his first grade teacher a Valentine's Day card, so he signed it, "with love and heartness" because there was more than just love for her. He still uses all the heartness he has with life, and I like to aspire to live that way. It's a family saying now, and a good reminder for what I want to include in my life- love and heartness!
2. What inspired you to start blogging?
I had a livejournal account in high school because I was the only one had feelings and emotions, right? After high school I went to Europe for three months so I wanted to keep my family in the loop with what I was doing in Germany. And Italy. And Switzerland. Anyway, in 2010 I picked it back up as a way to escape my thoughts while my car was in the shop and I was by myself all the time. And when I moved to Pittsburgh in April, I decided to take it seriously and here I am!
3. What is your favorite thing about living in Pittsburgh
I LOVE that the city is so close (20 minutes!) and we live right in the middle of the parks, so we can walk around in nature and then be amid the buildings all within the hour. Plus the beer... ahhh the beer. Some of the food is weird, like sandwiches and salads with fries. But the number one absolute favorite thing ever about living in Pittsburgh is the view. It's incredible and breathtaking and overwhelming and inspiring and and and.
4. I know you spent a lot of time working in a restaurant, what do you want people to know who have never worked as a server?
It's one of the most taxing and difficult jobs I've ever worked. It's not true for every server, but most servers I know are some of the most hard-working people I know. It was one of the most fun time in my life (think: meeting my very best friend in the world, working hard and playing hard, and making enough money to help put myself through college!) and it was also a big eye opener (think: being on your feet for 14 hours and dealing with difficult people while not having eaten for 8 hours and three tables need you all at once). Be patient. Be kind. Tip well and you'll be treated like gold.
5. What/where is your favorite place on earth and why?
Up North Michigan is a big top place. Preferably on Lake Huron because that's my favorite body of water ever. There's also this spot in the town I lived in while I was in Germany that was in the middle of a field next to a castle. But above anything, my most favorite place is anywhere with my man, B.
6. How would your loyal blog readers describe you?
A little sarcastic, hopefully fun, and truthful. I try to make everything I write filled with a positive, true vibe. Sometimes.
7. Anything else you want to tell the Venus Trapped in Mars world?
That this girl (Sarah) is the bomb.com and I'm honored to be here. Also, that answer is always 10. Or blue. And don't drink and drive. The end!
P.S. I think you're the bomb, girlfriend. And I'm sure all my readers will agree when they hear Kaylee is giving away $15 to Starbucks!!
Girl Code is the best show I have stumbled upon recently. Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI tried DVRing all the "vintage" MTV shows and my DVR must hate me. It never DVR'd full episodes or all of the episodes for that matter and random episodes just wouldn't play. So I just gave up :(
ReplyDeleteGirl Code. Yes, just yes. Like, what did I ever do without that show?
ReplyDeleteAlso, how do I land a spot on that bad boy?
I'm glad you beat me to the punch.
Deletei love love love my PVR. we record all of our shows on it because we have live tv! lol
ReplyDeletewhen i get to commercials, i always forward them.
I see nothing wrong with your first 3 choices. I grew up watching Jeopardy and The Wheel with my grandmother. I STILL want to be on Wheel of Fortune!
ReplyDeleteI love like, all of these. Except never seen Girl Code? New addition?
ReplyDeleteOh man I could watch old school MTV and house hunters for DAYS! I like to watch jeopardy only as a group so i can show off how smart i am. My dad is real good at jeopardy so my mom and i would watch it, DVR it, then act like we hadn't seen it yet and beat the pants off him...the sad thing, we didn't always win.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get the final Jeopardy question right I want to call everyone I know and tell them how smart I am.
ReplyDeleteThis one is me!!! :)
Deleteold MTV is seriosuly the best. the hills was my life. see how cool I was back then?
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage MTV. Girl code is amazing! I'm so addicted to all those house shows. You should watch bar rescue or restaurant impossible! Both good shows!
ReplyDeleteMy husband said on one of our first dates that he was afraid of me when I shouted Jeopardy answers at the TV! And I have 101 episodes of The Hills on my DVR right now. No shame!
ReplyDeleteI don't have cable because my rent is crazy expensive this year. I've heard Girl Code is hilarious though. I do get the basic channels so American Ninja Warrior is my Monday obsession! I wish I were that in shape (minus the man muscles).
ReplyDeleteBig Apple, Little Bites
How about a slumber party with junk food, beer, and hours upon hours of House Hunters and a litte Wheel of Fortune thrown in?! FYI... I rock the Wheel of Fortune.
ReplyDeleteGirl Code is legit every conversation between my girlfriends and I. Why was I not informed this could be a show?
ReplyDeleteI love House Hunters International and Jeopardy! My husband and I are old fuddy duddies and love to watch Jeopardy together in the evenings.

Girl Code is my show. I never know when it's on but when I'm at the boyfriends house and MTV has it on, we both watch it. Lol Well I watch it and he sleeps. Lol
ReplyDeleteI love it when MTV plays "THe Hills" or "Laguna Beach" reminds me of my high school days.
I've been DVR'ing House Hunters for years. I only stopped DVR'ing House Hunters International because I couldn't keep up. Too many shows would keep stacking up and it felt too much like work.
ReplyDeleteObsessed with House Hunters and oh my gosh those dresses. I feel so lame for how crazy me and my friends were over Laguna and the Hills. I have a feeling Audrina wouldn't be caught dead in a dress like that now! haha
ReplyDelete$15 will definitely help my Starbucks infatuation ! haha thanks so much for doing this giveaway- I hope I win!
ReplyDeletetotally agree about House Hunters! It totally sucks you in!

House Hunters and Jeapordy are what get me through my 1st hour at the gym until its American Ninja Warrior time! And the Hills...YES. Did you see the alternate ending yet?!!
ReplyDeletehow dare you call the Hills vintage. ;) also, Jeopardy and I are really tight. love love love it
ReplyDeleteI never thought that I would be interested in Jeopardy but myself and the fiance find ourselves watching it all the time and the same with Wheel of Fortune. I suppose we got addicted to Jeopardy while housesitting my parent's house-- my father Tivo's it and we are addicted!
ReplyDeleteWHY HAVE I NOT BEEN RECORDING OR WATCHING JEOPARDY EVERY SINGLE DAY?! Whoa, sorry for yelling, but you just reminded me I should have totally been watching this show now that I have some time on my hands. Looks like I know what I'm doing at 2:30 today!
ReplyDeletebut for reals. HGTV just sucks you in. it's like a black hole.
ReplyDeleteUntil HH stops playing hours and hours of marathons on Sundays..I won't DVR it, but Boy Meets World on MTV2? Oh yeah...filling up my DVR as I type.. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have to throw ALF into the mix here as well...I mean you just can't beat reruns of that alien.
ReplyDeleteOk I just need you to know that I've been DVRing Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune for OVER TWO YEARS STRAIGHT. And 80% of the time on Jeopardy I'll randomly make a guess out of my ass (This country was explored in 1723 by a guy who had a mullet haircut. CZECHOSLOVAKIA!! That's BS, I hope you picked up on that) and it'll be right and I NEED AFFIRMATION. I could go on and on about these two shows but uhhh I'm gonna stop right now.
ReplyDeleteSo spot on I like Jeopardy but wouldn't bother to record it because it is just not that type of show
ReplyDeleteHahaha OMG that gif! The Hills is also on Netflix woot woot!
ReplyDeleteGirl Code is the best show EVER! Seriously, I was just watching it last night and it was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHouse Hunters... Addicted! You always have to see which house they choose!!!
ReplyDeleteHi! New follower from the GFC Lovin link up! I literally am obsessed with ALL THESE shows haha, love it.
ReplyDeleteKallie, But First Coffee Blog
Haha I love this! I always DVR the most random shows like this. Robbie thinks I'm crazy but when you need The Hills, you need The Hills.
ReplyDeleteHouse Hunters is the best show to watch at the gym (like I go anymore) because you have to wait until the end to frickin leave!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I totally agree about Jeopardy. You just cannot watch it without that affirmation or it defeats the purpose.
ReplyDeleteMy mom watches house hunters and I've caught a few episodes; I need to see if it's on Netflix though because I am needing a new show. :)
Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets sucked into House Hunters! Seriously. That show is like crack. I mean, I've never done crack...But I imagine it's as addicting as that stupid show!
ReplyDeleteHouse Hunters International is like crack! You start and you just can't stop... !! My husband watches all of those kind of shows.. and I'm always rolling my eyes at him. BUT then we start watching and I suddenly get RIGHT INTO THEM! I always get mad because of how little people pay for A-MAZING houses in different, GORGEOUS parts of the world!
ReplyDeleteAnd because you DVR Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune everyone will think that you watch ahead and then remember the answers.. you ol' cheater, you;)
Vintage MTV is amazing. I sadly gave up my cable after my move to save money but guess what?? It's on Netflix!! Same with all those other reality shows that are like crack (basically anything on E!, TLC, HGTV, Food Network, etc)
ReplyDelete~Christine
Girl Code is literally amazing! haha.
ReplyDeleteGiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirl. You had me at House Hunters. But it's the stupid Love It Or List It that will literally rob me of an entire day of my life. The things humans can do. I can barely organize a drawer.
ReplyDeletebut then we became soul mates when you mentioned GIRL CODE. I now have an irrational fear of Fedora's because of it.
Oh my garsh. I love House Hunters. I am so glad I'm not alone - I can't get enough!
ReplyDeleteFYI - i used to have a guy friend that would DVR jeopardy, watch it, and then pretend it was randomly on when people were around and guess the answers so that he looked super smart. FREAK.
ReplyDeleteI protesting at the MTV offices that you and I should have our own Girl Code segment.
ReplyDeleteI would be lost without my DVR! The only thing I don't understand and maybe it's a guy thing but my husband will DVR movies that we own on DVD...which are less than two feet from the tv. Makes no sense. DVR'ing to fast forward through commercials total sense.
ReplyDeleteUm, I record Jeopardy every night and make my husband watch with me. Finally someone can witness how brilliant I am!
ReplyDeleteI watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night.. love some good trivia and i'm totally obsessed with Girl Code!
